Door Wreaths
Whether it is a fresh or artificial wreath that you want, Courts offer a great choice to choose from or if you are feeling creative, and want something a little more bespoke, you can design your own version. Just tell us what you would like.

Did you know that the word wreath is derived from ‘writhan’ which means to twist? Christmas Wreaths were originally made to celebrate the winter solstice, honouring the sun and the seasons. The wreaths themselves were designed to symbolise nature and look ahead to welcoming the spring which was a vital time to ensure a future abundance of crops.

The circular shape is said to symbolise eternal life and in the 16th Century Christians made Advent Door Wreaths with evergreens to represent eternal life, thorns to represent the crown of thorns worn by Jesus and red holly berries to represent his blood.

    Garlands
    The fresh smell of pine gives such a festive aroma to your home. In addition to looking beautiful, fresh garlands of greenery, Holly, Spruce and Fir create the perfect setting for hallways, fireplaces, dining rooms and kitchens adorned with dried fruit, glass votives and pinecones.

    Wreath-making Classes

    Our popular wreath-making classes return this year on November 22nd and spaces are filling up fast. Lasting for two hours, everything you need is supplied by us. Simply come along and have fun. Ideal for a group of friends, the cost includes mulled wine, coffee, mince pies plus all foliage, pine cones, dried oranges, cinnamon, holly, door hook and all equipment needed. The wreaths will last into the new year and we offer several options:

    • Classes in our new workshop at our shop on Eastwood Road, Rayleigh.
    • Classes in your own home
      A minimum of 8 people is required. Dates dependent on availability
    • Grove Wood School charity fundraiser sessions
      These have run for a number of years with a generous donation made to school funds.
    • Royal British Legion
      A lovely fundraiser for this great association.
    • Online wreath-making session
      Once your booking has been confirmed, you will receive a box with everything you need to follow along with the class as it happens.
